7th Annual Polar Plunge – 2015

The 7th Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Alaska was last Saturday, December 19, at Goose Lake in Anchorage. If you’ve never attend it or hear of it, the Polar Plunge is a great opportunity for both individuals and organizations to support Special Olympics Alaska athletes. You’re supporting a good cause and also have a chance to win great prizes (including Alaska Airlines miles).

Special Olympics Alaska provides sports training and competition for people with disabilities. Last year the event raised $347,000 in donations. This year’s goal is $500,000. To get the lake ready for the event, firefighters use chainsaws to cut through the 12 inch thick ice. It’s the coolest event you’ll participate in, if you’ve missed it this year look out for it next year same, time same location.
