Ready, Set, Get Clean! Here’s what you need to know!

‘Tis the season for spring cleaning. It’s true even if we’re still waiting for break up to really happen, and those giant piles of snow to melt off. Your hot tub is waiting for you to show it some spring cleaning love.

If you’re not quite ready to buckle down to change out the water, there are still things you can do to prepare your hot tub for your spring “spa-liday.”

As with any job, the first step should be to plan and prepare.

First things first, inventory your spa cleaning supplies.

✅ A source of water? (If not, check out our referral list for water delivery.)

✅ A garden hose for draining your tub.

✅ Filter cleaner? (Stock up on our Pleatco Filter Cleaning tabs.)

✅ An extra set of filters? (not required)

✅ Clean towels and Gel Gloss

✅ Cover cleaner (We love 303 spray!)

And while you’re at it, it’s a good time to inventory your spa maintenance chemicals.

Make a list of everything you need, and swing into either Waterworks location to stock up!

If you call us the day before, we can have everything you need boxed up and ready to go!

Get Set

Take a look at your calendar and the weather forecast and choose a day to clean your tub.

If you’re arranging for water delivery, make sure that you’re on their schedule.

The day before your drain and clean, set out everything you’ll need.

Still have snow? Make sure you’ve cleared a path to your tub and have a good place where you can set the other end of the hose while your tub is draining.

Spring Clean

Turn off the power.

Pull out the filters and pop them into a bucket with your filter cleaner.

Drain the tub. (Refer to your owners manual for drain attachment locations.)

Put the entire hose in the water so that all of the air is out. Then pull one end out towards where you want the tub to drain. Water should begin flowing out.

While the tub is draining, wipe down your cover with 303. (Pro tip: If your cover is so heavy you can’t lift it, contact us to order a new one!)

Then, once the tub is empty, wipe it down with a towel, and shine up the shell with your gel gloss.

Now, it’s time to refill your tub! Either turn on the hose and fill up or have your water delivery person start filling.

Pop clean filters back in.

Shock treat your tub with your sanitizer.

Then after the tub comes up to temp, test and balance the water.

Your tub is clean, and you’re ready to go!

Download our checklist below. (Then you can laminate and keep it by the door near your tub!)
